About Me

Hi, my name is

Penelope Johnston,

but please call me Penny!

Hi, I’m Penny!

I’m deeply passionate about supporting neurodivergent people. I’m a Coffs Harbour–based, Medicare- and NDIS-registered psychologist who works with autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD teens and adults, as well as the parents, educators, and employers who walk alongside them.

For more than 25 years, I’ve worked as a psychologist across both government and private settings, supporting neurodivergent individuals through many stages of life. I’ve supported at-risk youth, university students, adults, and older people as they navigate life’s challenges. This experience has shaped a deep appreciation for the strengths, needs, and everyday realities of neurodivergent individuals and their families.

This work isn’t just professional for me — it’s personal too.

I’m a parent to three amazing neurodivergent children, and I know firsthand the ups and downs — from early questions and diagnoses, to school advocacy, and supporting their wellbeing and growth as they move into young adulthood.

When my children were younger, I became aware of a real gap in specialised, practical support for neurodivergent individuals and families. As they grew more independent, I was able to pursue my own goals — furthering my education and creating the practice I had always hoped for.

I’ve since completed a Graduate Certificate and Master’s in Autism Studies, along with an ADHD Clinical Provider Certificate. Today, my focus is on creating a practice that celebrates neurodiversity, builds on strengths, and offers practical, evidence-based support for autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD teens and adults, and their parents, educators, and employers.

My aim is to offer the kind of care and understanding I once wished for my own family.

When I’m not working, I love spending time in nature — it’s where I slow down, recharge, and reflect.
